Deploy the Add-on Software
To obtain your installation software package, you need to click on the Downloads option on the left of the Portal page.
You only need to download the latest version of the software.
You will have the following methods to distribute the software to your users that must install the add-on:
Installation Type | Description |
---|---|
Manual Installation | You visit each workstation and install the software. |
Shared Link | You can place the installer on a shared location from where your users can run the installer. |
Managed Distribution | You can use a system such as Micro Focus Zenworks or Liquit Workspace to distribute the add-on to the users that you will entitle to use the Add-on. |
Manual Installation
Merely follow these steps on each workstation where you want to have the Add-on installed:
- Make sure the GroupWise client has been stopped on the workstation.
Critical Step
You really need to make sure that the GroupWise client is not running as if any part of GroupWise is running in the background the installation will not be successful.
- Run the downloaded executable "As Administrator" or with elevated privileges on the workstation.
- Once the installation has completed, you can start the GroupWise client.
A successful installation will indicate the Schedule Video Meeting button on the main GroupWise Toolbar. Once the user clicks on the button it will launch the Add-on and automatically activate the installation against your organisation's profile. The user will be ready to start scheduling meetings.
Shared Link
By sharing a link to the installation executable, the same installation procedure as above need to be followed by your users.
Managed Distribution
When using the Micro Focus Zenworks or Liquit Workspace, or any similar type of system, the process will be very similar as with a manual installation.
- Create a application package in your software distribution system
- Upload the installer executable to your software distribution system
- Make sure a pre-installation action is defined that will stop the grpwise.exe executable on the workstation
- Ensure that the installation package will be executed with elevated privileges on the workstation
- After the installation has completed, you can define an action that will start the GroupWise client on the workstation again.
There is no need for any special switches during the installation process.
A successful installation will show the Schedule Video Meeting button on the main GroupWise Toolbar.
